I despite talking about myself or having my picture taken, but I’m up next for this post series, so here we go: My name is Alex, and I’m the “face” of Born Free Leather.
I spent nine years as an EMT on a 911 ambulance. I left that career field in 2014 and have since worked with animals. I have trained horses, worked on a vet truck, worked on a sheep farm, managed a kennel, and up until recently, worked at a small animal clinic.
I have always been involved with sports, especially soccer and running, but now I primarily bike ride and hike, and always appreciate a good yoga session. Being outdoors and being active is a huge part of our lives and what makes us happy.
Growing up I was pretty shy and quiet, but learned how to speak with and “read” people when I started working 911. While I am pretty quiet in group settings, I do much better in one on one with people. I am the queen of “resting bitch face.” I love getting dirty, trail rides, being in the back country.
My partner of six years on the ambulance used to say my moral compass never waivers. I am the oldest of three girls. My middle sister is mentally disabled and I truly believe growing up with and caring for her made me a better human being. I am punctual, true to my word, and a perfectionist. While I’m physically strong and tough and know my worth, I can struggle with confidence in certain situations but have learned how to fake it.
I love trucks, food, a good dog and a damn good horse. I like to live a pretty simple life and keep my circle and obligations small. I love my husband and our little family and am fiercely protective.
My goal is to one day have a piece of land with two houses so we can help my parents care for my sister. I dream of a house of our own, with a garden, chickens, and, when my heart is ready, another horse. Hoping this little leather shop can get us a little closer to achieving that dream.
